Join Miranda Bennett Studio, an amazing women-run company specializing in plant-dyed apparel and textiles, in the KKDW Showroom. The MBS Natural Dye Team will lead an informative workshop on the natural dye practice of Eco Printing, a beautiful, spontaneous technique that can be adapted to a multitude of elements sourced in the home, at the Farmer's market, or, our shop floor! As an extension of Miranda Bennett Studio's sourcing initiative to utilize only Zero Waste dye-stuff, you'll be learning to rust dye with steel refuse and Texas Pecan wood shavings--byproducts straight from the KKDW shop. In addition to gaining hands-on experience with these materials, expect demonstrations and instructions on how to achieve natural color with a variety of Hill Country-sourced wood fibers, including Mesquite and Live Oak. You'll achieve incredible, organic patterns and natural colors on your choice of a Zero Waste Square Pillow case or Table Runner, both constructed with textile remnants straight from the cutting table of MBS, composed of fabric qualities such as Silk Noil, Velvet, Linen and Silk Charmeuse (please make your selection above). Or, you are welcome to bring your own item to dye, due to space, we must limit the dimensions to no larger than 24" x 24" and the item must be composed of natural materials. Additional blank pillow cases and table runners will also be available for purchase the day of the workshop. In addition, there will be a selection of pre-dyed Miranda Bennett Studio apparel for sale. We'll close out the workshop with a beautiful spread of cheeses, breads, fruits, and more; feasting and reveling in our new knowledge together.
